Identify and Deal With Toxic Teammates
Toxicity is contagious and kills team cohesion and performance

Toxic Teammate
Toxic Teammates, if tolerated create a toxic culture
And managers who tolerate bad behaviour inevitably lose the respect of their team.
A toxic work culture destroys employee happiness and reduces employee productivity.
It’s a slippery slope…
If you accept bad behaviour from individuals it becomes the new acceptable standard in the team.
“But they are smashing their targets…”
“But they are going through a rough period…”
There are always ways to rationalise their behaviour.

Knowing the types of Toxic Teammates
1. Recognize and Address "The Brilliant Jerk"
Have you encountered a star performer who thinks they can get away with behaving badly?
These individuals often achieve or overachieve their targets but at the cost of team cohesion.
People who think they are above the law because they perform well.
Sometimes, there is a place for “a lone wolf” working style but don’t tolerate bad behaviour.
2. Managing the Overly Disagreeable
Are you facing employees who constantly challenge decisions?
It's essential to encourage a culture where people are willing to challenge each other respectfully and involve relevant people in the decision process.
Still, once a decision is made, there shouldn’t be an issue carrying it out.
At some point, the work just needs to be done!
3. Eliminate Ego-Driven Conflicts
Creative conflict is beneficial, but when someone’s ego causes disputes, it’s time to address it.
Do they take things overly personally?
Do they always need to shine the brightest in every situation?
Do you have hypersensitive people who are on the lookout for potential offences to their ego?
Try to understand their perspective but sometimes people bring too much of their own baggage to work.
4. Tolerating C-Players or B-Players who can’t improve
No one likes picking up the slack for an underperformer.
